The game of chess, is a game of war and strategy. It needs a mind that is patient but bold and ultimately you are imposing your will upon another. You use guile strategy, you arrange your pieces and make your moves.
Your opponent, counters your moves, she thinks you are like all the others. She thinks she can anticipate your moves, she believes herself to be a strong player. She has no idea that to you, this is not a game.
Chess pieces moved, chess pieces counter, her strong pieces protected, like her soul depended on it. You know that move after move, each hit of the clock, she doesn’t see it yet but you have seen through her defenses. You slowly remove her pieces from the board.
Her knights fall so easy, the Rooks fall brick by brick. Her pawns sacrificed for her defense fall one by one. She smiles as her bishop takes your queen, and she smiles in victory removing her from the board. Thinking she has the upper hand that you will slink away like the rest, that the game has turned in her favor.
She doesn’t see you have already taken control of the center of the board, and the next move the lowly pawn has crossed the board. You pull that queen from her hand and put it where your pawn was. Her eyes full of shock and awe and her lips begin to quiver. She faints a move to try to trick you to distract you from your prize, but in one move you reveal your End Game.
You position your queen to strike, move across the board, your deadliest weapon, your lioness who was built for the hunt. Her King is toppled and with it, is her will, and as the piece falls and the game is won.
You whispers in her submitted ear, “I never sacrifice my Queen…”
