Hernando County is Not a conservative county. Sure, there may be close-minded people, but every where has those type of people.
Hernando has several public, well-known Wiccan and LGBT+ pride events. People are actually pretty open in this hick town of Florida.
My partner has gone dressed to full blown redneck bars and been accepted, hell some country hillbillies even came over and told my partner they were pretty and extremely brave with that they were going through. After they left, the bartender came over to make sure things were alright.
We have a couple monthly Wiccan events in Brooksville/Spring Hill area (Airport Flea Market, and Pine Island, just a couple I’m personally familar with) and I know there are others elsewhere.
Back to LGBT+, we have a very open-minded brewery called Marker 48 that hosts lgbt+ events quite often, and even Spring Hill United Church of Christ (which we are a part of, yes we “witches” are part of a church) is very open minded and expresses their acceptance of LGBT+ folks. We also have other PRIDE support groups open to the public.
Oh and since I’m on the “conservative” track, here is a shocker, Hernando even has BDSM meetings called “munches”, yes groups of kinky people get together and chat about…normal shit like books, movies, life…sprinkled with talk of kinky fun sex.
Don’t try and tell me Hernando County is Conservative. I don’t buy it for a second…
